BS2000:
A BAND FOR THE PEOPLE
I’m very excited to get my new BS2000 album called Simply Mortified (out Feb 6!) I’m loving this casio hardcore sound that some bands are now getting into.  Listening to the tracks on Simply Mortified, I’ve discovered that this is not a normal album.  This is not music you can just pop in while doing your homework or while at work.  This album is a craze (see The Scrappy and The Side to Side).  There is something about it that captures your whole body and makes you move.  Not just regular head nodding or foot tapping NO! It makes your whole ass move!  First you start moving your torso around then the songs capture and take hold of your whole body and before you know it your doing some crazy dance moves that you didn’t know you had in ya! It’s like a drug pumping through your veins making each body part move as it flows through you.  Then the people around you start dancing with you just like in those wonderful 80’s movies.  Everyone is laughing and screaming and dancing.  My grandma who has arthritis threw her walker out a window!  She was getting down crazy stylee! It’s like the trick that cracked you up as a kid when someone pretended like their shoulder was moving without them moving it, and then when they tried to stop it with their hand the other shoulder started moving, and then their foot started tapping and when they stopped the other foot started tapping, and before they knew it their body had taken over and they were dancing with a surprised look on their face.  Well yeah, that’s what BS2000 is about.  It’s not just any dancing it’s really extreme happy dancing.  Excitement and enthusiasm and giddiness flows out of your body and you can’t control it.  The kid in you takes over.  It allows you to feel once again like that little kid on the Sit N Spin.   I think Clark Griswold described it best when he said, “It's a quest for fun! I'm gonna have fun, and you're gonna have fun! We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgery to remove our Goddamn smiles! You'll be whistling Zip-a-dee-doo-da out of your assholes!”
The BS tour kicks off in Japan February 12th at Club Quattro in Tokyo.  I hear it’s going to be a real small Punk Rock style club tour, travelling around in a little van and all.  They will also be taking along TWO additional members. HMMmmmm….
Le Tigre will be opening, and I already know what some people are going to say.  Oh Le Tigre is opening because Kathleen Hanna is Adam’s girlfriend blah blah.  Okay fine BUT Le Tigre is an awesome band and Kathleen Hanna is awesome.  In fact, Rolling Stone gave her new EP (from the Desk of Mr. Lady) a better review than Simply Mortified.  So I’m just saying don’t underestimate the band and think she’s just a latchy.  The truth is I already know Le Tigre’s performance will be solid.  It’s BS2000 I’m curious about but we all know Adam…  My point is that both bands are awesome and this is going to be one big happy ass movin show.  But I let Adam speak for himself, “I’d like to encourage people to come down, come see us, come share with us their movements, their own dances.  They don't have to do the same dances everyone else is doing, they can come down and do a multitude of dances. We do not want the people to stand still. We want the people to come out and dance, do what they need to do. I feel that people might be bored with just rocking their head back and forth. We want to implement the entire body into dance."
-- gives people the inspiration to rise up and shake their booties on instinct alone. All those private moves perfected in front of bedroom mirrors, collectively thousands of hours across this great nation spent preparing the real dance, the people's own dance, the dance that will unleash itself from the people's individual asses like a great rippling fart perhaps first at BS2000 shows, but soon wafting through the clubs, the house parties, all the places where people gather to listen to and love music, all over our many-assed planet with its many, many excellent moves. With luck, and with the right nutrients, it could be a veritable revolution against doing "the standing still". I look forward to it like a lot.
